Let’s be honest. Sometimes homeschool moms just want a nice Christian video teacher to magically appear and say, “Don’t worry, friend—I’ve got the math lesson today.”
If that’s you? Welcome.
I’ve tested and researched so many video-based homeschool curriculums over the years that my brain now thinks in BJU transitions and Apologia science intros.
But the good news?
I’m about to save you YEARS of second-guessing, regret-browsing, and printer jamming.
And yes, this list is gospel-centered, hilarious at times, and extremely practical—because that’s how we roll over here.
Let’s dive into the Top 10 Christian Homeschool Programs with Video Lessons—plus some bonus picks and helpful resources along the way.

1. BJU Press with Video Lessons
AKA: The One I Use and Love
BJU Press is what we use in our home and honestly? I might write it a Valentine.
It's open-and-go, biblically solid, and robust enough to challenge your kid without melting their brain.
The video lessons flip between:
A cheerful teacher in a custom studio (see pic above)
Cutaways to animals, maps, historical reenactments
On-screen workbook help so your kid knows exactly what to do
Translation?
I say, “Off you go!” in the morning, sip my coffee in peace, and my child is off learning about Ancient Egypt with Jesus and glittery workbooks.
✨ If you’re working while homeschooling—or just want your kid to work independently like a tiny CEO—this is a Christian video homeschool program to check out.
2. Journey Homeschool Academy
Journey Homeschool is like Christian science with spark.
This is such a popular program (pictured above) with so many people!
These guys are like the cool aunt and uncle of faith-based science programs. They bring the fun and hands-on energy.
They’ve got:
Video-based lessons from elementary to high school
Lifetime access on elementary courses (yes, reuse for sibling #3!)
Printable workbooks
A very mom-friendly level of prep (read: none)
If you’re looking for a Christian science video curriculum that doesn’t put your child to sleep, this is it.
3. Abeka
The Traditional One
Abeka is like private school—but without uniforms or the need to pack a lunch.
Their video lessons are recorded in real classrooms with real students.
Teachers even talk directly to the camera sometimes, which is a little creepy in a fun way.
But heads up:
💥 It’s intense.
💥 It’s worksheet-heavy.
💥 Your printer may cry.
Still, it’s one of the most academically rigorous Christian homeschool programs with video out there—and very structured for families who want that.
4. Apologia Online Academy
This curriculum is where critical thinking meets creation.
Apologia isn’t just about creation science. It’s about training kids to think biblically in every subject.
The videos are clear and full of visuals (think: teaching + helpful b-roll), and Apologia is expanding into more subjects every year.
If you want your child to love science and be able to explain why they believe in the resurrection without sweating—this is a top pick.
Bonus: the tone is not cheesy. Just clear, smart, and rooted in Scripture.
5. Veritas Press Self-Paced + Live Classes
If Zoom and Classical Education Had a Baby…
This one is for all you classical Christian families who secretly love a good timeline song.
Veritas offers:
Self-paced history video lessons (kids can do solo!)
LIVE online classes (real teachers!)
Flashcards + workbooks that actually make sense
It’s thorough, rich, and a bit complex to set up—so make sure you do the free consultation…you’ll save yourself time and money.
Oh, and check if you qualify for ESA funding.
Some families get this entire multi-thousand-dollar curriculum paid for.
And on a personal note—my son is currently working through their Omnibus Egyptian self-paced course and LOVING it.
(I test a lot of homeschool curriculum around here—perks of the job!)
The visuals are stunning, and the content is so well-written, even I get sucked in.
6. Science Shepherd
Short. Sharp. Biblical. Science.
Science Shepherd is for the mom who says, “Please just give me something short, solid, and video-based that won’t cost my entire grocery budget.”
My son is actually doing Science Shepherd right now, and he’s loving it—mostly because the videos are short, the pictures are gorgeous, and the script is so well done.
It’s like someone finally made a science program that’s both beautiful and efficient.
(We’re calling that a homeschool miracle😂)

7. Schoolhouse Teachers
The Netflix of Christian Curriculum
This is the buffet of video-based Christian homeschool options (alongside loads of text-based course options aswell!).
One subscription = hundreds of courses for the whole family.
You’ll get:
Video lessons
PDFs
Subjects you never thought you'd teach (hello, Latvian?!)
It’s affordable, it’s flexible, and it’s perfect if you’re homeschooling 3+ kids and want to DIY your own path.
8. MasterBooks Academy
Simple, Gentle, and Surprisingly Video-Based
Yep, MasterBooks has an academy—and it’s great for families who love MasterBooks but want a bit more structure.
Not as polished as BJU or Abeka, but super budget-friendly and gentle in tone.
You’ll get:
Video lessons
Christian worldview
Flexible learning
Perfect for relaxed homeschoolers who want video curriculum support without giving up their slower pace.
9. Compass Classroom
Real Homeschoolers. Real Gospel. Real Good.
This is hands-down one of my top picks.
Compass Classroom was built by homeschool parents who get it. Like… they’ve taught Latin while burping a baby and grading math with a toddler climbing their leg.
Their video-based homeschool curriculum includes:
Classical + Charlotte Mason style
Bible, history, science, economics & more
Print or stream workbooks
Gospel-soaked content
It’s $40/month for tons of faith-filled learning, and honestly? It’s beautiful, biblical, and built for real life.
10. Bonus Picks (Lightning Round!)
Didn’t make the top 9, but still awesome depending on your needs:
Classical Academic Press – Latin + logic + language arts (I love their Latin!)
Music in Our Homeschool (pictured above) – for music appreciation + instrument basics
Monarch – online and Christian, but very text-heavy (less video pizzazz)
Berean Builders – science + history video curriculum
(Again, full breakdowns + links are in the PDF! 📝)
💡 My Personal Pick?
If I had to choose one curriculum to bring to a desert island (along with a solar-powered DVD player)?
📦 BJU Press.
We’ve used it, we love it.
It’s a wonderful video-based homeschool curriculum that lets me say “Go do school,” and my kid actually does school.
Independently.
With joy.
(Mostly.)
